The Parts department is an incredibly important role within RH Commercial Vehicles. They manage all the parts that make a truck or van work – without them, we and our customers won’t be getting very far.

There’s a lot you can do as an apprentice parts advisor, and, once you finish – you can go in many directions in your career.

What you will learn…

  • How to give the best customer service – be that by telephone or in branch.
  • How to be an essential contact with the workshop teams and customers.
  • How to ensure that the workshop teams and customers’ needs and requirements for parts are met through the effective use of parts catalogues and computer stock lists.
  • Understand the parts department process
  • Everything about commercial vehicle parts sales process for workshop, new and used vehicles and bodyshop.
  • How to work to tight timescales for the competition of parts sales.
  • How to be self-motivated and enthusiastic, always working to the highest standard to ensure satisfaction for yourself and the customer.
  • How to be reliable and take pride in the quality of their work.
  • How to be adaptable to the company’s needs.
  • How to thrive under pressure.
  • How to have impeccable verbal communication skills, and can convey information to fellow team members and the customer easily.

The Role…

As an apprentice, you will observe, learn and gain an understanding of a wide range of parts handling skills and processes while under the instruction of skilled staff.

The day to day of a Parts Advisor…

  • Being the first point of contact both face to face and over the telephone with customers, colleagues and other depots’ departments.
  • Delivering excellent customer service.
  • Checking incoming stock against delivery notes and store stock in correct locations.
  • Handling, storing and receiving stock, payments, procedus, idenifying, sourcing and ordering parts.
  • Support customers and workshop staff with parts identification and process.
  • Process cash and card payments for customer parts.
  • Ensure quality is maintained throughout all stages to exceed customer expectations.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with the customer and to interpret customer needs.

Customer Service

In no time at all, you’ll be able to offer assistance to all potential customers, fixing problems and providing brilliant service! Your goal is to build a strong relationship with customers.

Telephone Manner

You’ll be establishing a connection with customers in the best manner, satisfying all their enquiries and offering all the information they’ll need before they decide to buy.

Organisation

We have over £1.5 million in parts across our six sites – that’s a lot! It needs to be organised, so this is a skill you’ll be learning straight away. Everything needs to be tracked, stocked up and available quickly so organisation is key.

The more you learn with us, the more you will be paid. That’s why your salary will increase for every year you pass with us. When you start your career journey as a Parts Advisor Apprentice, you will earn £12,155 a year and it can only go up from there!
