CTS’ second Renault E-Tech refuse truck, leaves RHCV’s depot.

The second Renault E-Tech D Wide 26-tonne refuse collection vehicle (eRCV) for CTS Hire has left RH Commercial Vehicles’ (RHCV) depot. The truck is the second of two vehicles for their hire fleet.

Municipal vehicle hire company CTS Hire joined forces with RHCV to add two vehicles to their fleet allowing councils and vehicle operators to access eRCV technology on short-term hire for the first time.

RHCV supplied CTS Hire with two Renault E-Tech D Wide electric rear-steer chassis which have been paired with the Dennis Eagle OL21 bodies and Terberg Xtra bin lifts. The trucks are powered by 4x 66kW lithium batteries, which are located in the wheelbase.

An ideal feature of the E-Tech range is easy charging. The vehicles feature charging ports compatible with AC and DC charging. Its 4 modes allow charging from 22kW to 150kW. In fast charge (DC), the vehicles can reach 100% in less than two hours, or overnight on a conventional industrial outlet and adapts to all situations.

Further, thanks to their zero tailpipe emissions, the Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide is qualified to operate in Low Emission Zones (LEZ), and Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ).

Windows in the lower section of the nearside slam door aid driver vision and it is also an extremely quiet vehicle. These measures make the vehicles perfect for operation in urban areas with reduced noise pollution and considerations for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.

Bob Sweetland, Managing Director, CTS Hire commented, “We are delighted to receive our second Renault Trucks E-Tech eRCV. The first vehicle has proven popular with our customers. This additional vehicle will give even more of our customers the opportunity to incorporate an electric refuse truck into their day-to-day operations for as long as they wish, enabling them to carry out a more thorough evaluation of this new technology.”

Paul Pearson, Commercial Director, RHCV commented, “The second eRCV gives even more opportunity to showcase the advancement and reliability of the Renault Trucks E-Tech range.

“As our Nottingham depot is an official Renault Trucks EV service and repairing dealer, we can really become a leading supplier of electric vehicles”
