“It was the best thing I have ever done!”
Said Ashely Scarrott, HGV Technician at RH Commercial Vehicles, Northampton, after taking part in the Isuzu World Competition in Tokyo, Japan.
The global event pitched Isuzu Truck Technicians against each other in a series of technical skills and expertise on the Isuzu Truck commercial range.
The challenges included:
“The most challenging thing was the fault finding,” Ash said. “You have 10 minutes to discuss and 40 minutes actually doing it. Then there’s the added pressure of the camera as it was televised in Japan – your brain just goes blank.”
The trip also included opportunities to experience Tokyo and Japanese culture. The group visited the Isuzu Head Office and museum, car shows, the Temple of Mishima, and a trip up the Yokohama Landmark Tower – the tallest tower in Japan. They also had the opportunity to taste authentic Japanese cuisine.
This trip was the first time Ash left the UK and he has definitely caught the travel bug!
“I loved every minute of it and this has made me want to travel more and experience different cultures with my son – despite the heavy turbulence on the way back.
“The hospitality was exceptional and it was a really clean, safe and friendly place to be. I want to thank everyone at Isuzu Trucks for an amazing experience.”
Overall, the United Kingdom came 7th with a grand total of 332 points.
